Strategy Engineer
Are you our new Strategy Engineer for Emission Control?
The section Emissions and Integration (ENME) is at the core of the development of our internal combustion engines for conventional and alternative fueled trucks and buses. Our responsibility is to integrate engine, exhaust treatment and control systems to meet existing and upcoming emission legislations with optimized properties for all our on-road engines. Fuel consumption and CO2 is a top priority for ENME. Right now, we are facing the challenge of new emission legislation in several of our major markets.
The group Combustion system diesel (ENMED) is responsible for developing diesel combustion system, engine and exhaust treatment system concepts and the control strategies for all our engine families. The emphasis of the project work in the group is in concept development phase. ENMED is a group of senior and expert engineers with a significant impact on how the future combustion engine based powertrains will look like and perform.
Your Role
As the Strategy engineer for emission control at ENMED you will primarily work in the concept development phase. The creation of a legal strategy and the documentation thereof involves participants from many groups in powertrain development, and your job is to make sure all parts of the organization agree on a modular strategy to comply with different emission standards.
One of your primary deliverables is to make sure the legal documentation is ready in time for certification in different markets, including the creation of a time plan for partial deliveries. You will act as an editor, putting different parts together into a complete documentation of the powertrain concept and strategy.
Experts from different parts of the organization, such as software development or vehicle testing, will have varying knowledge of the legal requirements, and it will be your task to communicate specific needs and to support the expert engineers in matters that concern the legal strategy.
There are legal experts both within Scania, MAN and International that will support you, and who will act as a review board and receiver of the documentation.
There is also a need to continuously update the process we’re using to create the legal documentation. You will identify improvements and implement changes to our way of working.
Your Profile
Collaboration and communication are important parts of your job. You work independently and structured. Previous experience from work with certification is a merit. You master English and preferably also Swedish. Knowledge about combustion engines, exhaust treatment, engine control systems or emission legislation is preferable but not a must-have. We have many experts in the fields who will support you with the details. The culture in the team is open and supportive.
The role requires that you are attracted by working in a solution-oriented and flexible way with one foot in the operational and with the other foot in the more strategic. You probably have a master's degree in engineering or have acquired equivalent knowledge during your working life, preferably with a background in engine optimization, engine management systems or the design of performance affecting parts.
