Data Centre Engineer

Role Summary
You will work with development and Lifecycle management of our Data Centres. In this role you will collaborate with your team and external suppliers to ensure a smooth and safe management of all equipment within our data centres globally. In the role you will be coordinating and planning tasks through to completion, you will also actively optimize our way of working towards automation, speed and flexibility. We are looking for a team player with genuine drive and enthusiasm for all things IT infrastructure related and understands that situations can and do change on a daily basis.
This position is based in Södertälje with most of your work being on-site. Some travel will be required from time to time.
Job Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of IT-related facilities (data centres, server rooms, network rooms.
- Asset Management
-Maintain inventory of IT hardware, infrastructure assets, and related facility equipment.
-Lead and coordinate installation, and decommissioning of IT equipment, both on local and global perspective.
-Planning and procurement of needed supply materials within the Data Centre area.
-Improvement of standards and methods through clear documentation.
- Physical Security
-Compliance with organizational and regulatory security standards.
-Perform access reviews.
- Monitoring & Reporting
-Monitor and generate reports of facility performance metrics (energy usage, cooling efficiency).
- Compliance & Safety
-Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in line with Scania best practice.
-Regular risk assessments and audits.
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
-Participate in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and testing.
- Budget & Cost Control
-Identify cost-saving opportunities in operations and maintenance.
- Collaboration & Communication
-Liaise between IT Infra and facility maintenance.
-Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams related to Data Centre needs.
Who You Are
- Solid and practical hands-on IT infrastructure experience.
- Structured and well organized individual, always willing to learn.
- Experience in the fields electrics and cooling
- Can create clear reports to management.
- Safety and Security conscious.
- An interest in all things facilities related.
- Fluent in English and Swedish.
- Valid Swedish driving License.
- University engineering degree or equivalent knowledge gained through experience.
This Is Us
Scania IT Base Infrastructure manages, among other things, all of our larger Data Centres in Södertälje and other locations. This is critical to the daily running of our company, requiring close coordination across both our department all of Scania IT.
Our group within Base Infrastructure consists of approx. 15 people looking after the Data Centres, LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
