Development Engineer - Gas Customized Trucks

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Role Summary

Imagine a Lego kit: are you the type of person who feels accomplished after building the model according to the instructions, or do you enjoy reimagining and rebuilding it in new ways? At Customized Trucks, we embrace Scania’s modularity to craft innovative solutions tailored to our customers' needs. We utilize the "Lego" concept extensively, and sometimes, we even modify the "Lego bricks" to ensure they fit perfectly together.
Our responsibility spans the development of customized trucks across various domains, including alternative fuels, electrification, and specialized applications such as mining, heavy haulage, and fire trucks. Every project we undertake begins with a direct customer request, ensuring that our solutions are precisely aligned with their unique requirements.

Job Responsibilities

The tasks we handle range from routine adaptations, which you can process several times a week, to complex solutions that may require extensive projects. This broad scope and varying complexity offer endless opportunities for you to develop your skills and grow. No two weeks will ever be the same!

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Conducting technical investigations of customer requests. When an order is placed, you will describe the adaptation in the product description system and on drawings.
• Product ownership of our special gas solutions and ensuring their maintenance over time.
• Participating in development projects and creating new designs for CNG, LNG, and hydrogen trucks as needed.
• Addressing and resolving field quality issues as they arise.

One of the most exciting aspects of our job is the ability to follow a product from the initial customer request all the way to when the truck leaves the production line!

Who You Are

To excel in this role, we believe you should be a driven, proactive, and curious individual who isn't afraid to ask questions. You thrive on handling a variety of tasks that may change quickly and enjoy getting hands-on with technical issues when needed. Your positive and enthusiastic attitude makes you a great team player who fosters knowledge sharing and propels the team forward.

We also look for the following qualifications:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• Previous experience in S-order is beneficial but not mandatory.
• At least 3 years of experience in product development.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English.

Experience with Scania products, our modular system, and Catia V5 is advantageous. It is also meritorious if you have worked with gas and hydrogen solutions before.
