Data Scientist

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Role Summary

Are you a data scientist who thrives on turning complex data into meaningful business insights and solutions? We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our AI & Analytics team at Scania. In this high-impact role, you will take the lead in driving data science initiatives end-to-end—from exploration to deployment—and act as a key contributor in building our future services.

You will collaborate closely with our Lead Data Scientist, development teams, and business stakeholders, with the freedom and trust to drive work with aligned autonomy. At the same time, you will contribute actively to broader team activities and cross-functional initiatives—building trust, strengthening relationships, and helping us establish data science as a natural part of how we create value across Scania.

This is a unique opportunity to combine technical excellence, ownership, and collaborative leadership at a critical point in our transformation journey.

Job Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead and deliver data science initiatives in a cross functional environment, applying advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modelling
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities and translate them into actionable data-driven solutions
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and deploy models in a cloud-first environment (AWS and Databricks)
  • Support and mentor colleagues by sharing best practices, acting as a technical guide and enabler for the team
  • Simplify and communicate complex concepts to a wide audience, fostering engagement and understanding
  • Contribute to strengthening our data and analytics strategy, aligning innovation with practical business needs
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new methods to continuously improve our capabilities

Who You Are

You are an experienced, and strategic data scientist who is passionate about creating real-world impact through data. You thrive when given ownership, but you also understand that building trust, relationships, and team spirit is just as crucial as building models.

You bring:

  • Experience working in cloud-first environments (AWS preferred) and familiarity with Databricks or similar platforms
  • A strong ability to plan, organize, and drive projects with a focus on customer outcomes
  • A flexible, positive, and collaborative attitude—you contribute where needed to strengthen the team and build lasting relationships
  • Strong expertise in Python and modern data science workflows
  • A proven track record of applying advanced analytics to solve real business problems
  • An eagerness to mentor others and share knowledge in a collaborative environment
  • Curiosity and adaptability to embrace a fast-evolving organizational and technical landscape
  • Experience in handling large, complex datasets, MLOps principles, and familiarity with data architecture concepts is highly valuable.
