This Is Us

At Scania’s Vehicle Architecture section, we play a key role in shaping the future of sustainable transport. Together with R&D teams from across the TRATON Group, we work at the heart of early-phase product development—designing modular truck layouts that support multiple brands while enabling innovation, performance, and flexibility.

Our group focuses on strategic concept development and interface design, collaborating across Scania, MAN, and other TRATON brands. We are a team of 16 skilled layout engineers and architects, working in three collaborative sub-teams. We value different experiences and perspectives—because we believe they lead to stronger, more effective solutions.

Within TRATON Group R&D, you are an important part of something bigger. Joining us means gaining access to the ins and outs of the entire transportation industry. As part of a global team of industry experts, you get to think bigger, experience more, and reach further. Being bigger also means being stronger. Together with our brands, we have the collective power to transform transportation.

Role Summary

As a Layout Engineer, you’ll lead cross-functional concept studies and vehicle package projects that shape the design of tomorrow’s modular trucks. You’ll work hands-on in Catia V5 to create and visualize truck layouts and strategic interfaces—ensuring both technical performance and modular flexibility.

This role offers the chance to collaborate globally with different brands and departments, bridging design, engineering, and innovation. You will play a vital part in translating business needs and technical requirements into smart, scalable design concepts.

  • Contribute to decision-making by visualizing design solutions and trade-offs in early product development
  • Work closely with global stakeholders across TRATON brands and internal cross-functional teams
  • Use Catia as a core communication tool to align stakeholders on design direction and modular choices

Who You Are

You are an analytical thinker with a strong design mindset and a passion for modularity. You thrive on collaboration, but you’re also confident working independently and taking initiative. You enjoy working at the intersection of concept, design, and systems thinking, with the ability to both zoom out and focus on technical details.

We believe you’ll succeed if you bring:

  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in mechanical or automotive engineering
  • Experience working with Catia V5
  • Familiarity with tools such as Enovia, OAS, 3D Experience, and FRAS
  • Previous work in the automotive industry or a relevant cross-functional environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Swedish is a plus
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to plan and organize your own and others’ deliveries
