Role Summary 


As part of the global packaging team, you will have the possibility to shape the future of packaging within Scania and the TRATON Group. In the packaging selection area we are in the beginning of a major transformation, all intercontinental flows will be converted into one-way packaging instead of using returnable. As Global Packaging Developer, you will have an essential role in this transformation by developing new special packaging in one-way material. This will be accomplished together with the project team, local packaging engineers at the production units as well as with concerned part suppliers.

 

Job Responsibilities 


As Global Packaging Developer, your role and scope may vary over time according to the needs of the project and the Packaging Assortment & Selection team, but main responsibilities are:

  • Initiate, lead and participate in assignments and projects connected to Scania’s and the TRATON Group packaging assortment. From idea, through development, testing and implementation in our industrial network
  • Keep up to date with the current trends and future development of packaging solutions for the automotive industry
  • Assure continuous improvement and to drive change in the packaging area towards more sustainable and cost-efficient solutions
  • Highlight and define demands on packaging material through close collaboration with stakeholders within the supply chain to ensure development of packaging solutions designed for our processes and production
  • Be responsible of keeping related standards and processes updated. Actively challenge them to find efficiency and eliminate waste within the supply chain based on a holistic view of cost, sustainability and quality
  • Represent Scania externally in packaging development through collaboration with packaging manufacturers, logistic service providers and part suppliers
  • Participate in cross functional development forums together with Packaging stakeholders within Scania and the TRATON Group. 


Who You Are 


You are a positive, ambitious individual with good communication and relation-building skills. With your structured approach and can do-attitude, will enable you to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders for a positive outcome. Furthermore, you share knowledge and have the ability to positively influence others.

  • You have a University degree (or comparable), preferably within Packaging Development, Industrial Design or Logistics. Work experience within packaging development and/or supply chain development is an advantage
  • To be successful in the role you need to be openminded, innovative and think out of the box. You easily see the big picture, understand the details and see new opportunities. You are ambitious, determined and have a hands on-attitude that makes us reach our goals and commitments.
  • Curiosity is a part of who you are and business intelligence as well as upskilling comes naturally
  • Are enthusiastic and like to work in a fast-changing environment, you see challenges as opportunities
  • You are well structured and skilled within Excel, Power BI or similar analytics tool and base your solutions on facts, data and analytics. Knowledge within graphic software as CAD will be beneficial for your work.
  • Are comfortable building and maintaining relationships, both within and outside the organization
  • Are fluent in English, both written and spoken

The Packaging Assortment & Selection team (OAPB) is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Scania standard packaging assortment to assure that the company is ready for upcoming demands. We have high ambition to improve the assortment by streamlining it and focus on the right material choices to decrease our ecological footprint. We are also responsible for central selection process which aims to standardize and align the way of working within the production units in the global Scania network as well as within the TRATON Group.
