Role Summary

The Panel and Paint Workshop Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Panel and Paint Workshop, ensuring the efficient allocation of work, resources and tasks. The role includes assessing vehicle damage, preparing quotations for repairs, coordinating panel beating and spray-painting activities, and ensuring work is completed to a high standard while meeting customer expectations, quality standards and health and safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Panel and Paint Workshop, ensuring the efficient allocation of tasks and resources.
  • Assess incoming vehicles and prepare quotations for vehicle repairs, restorations, colour changes and body specification changes.
  • Blend and tone colours according to requirements.
  • Perform vehicle stripping and assembly, panel beating and spray painting activities.
  • Assess the condition of used parts.
  • Manage workshop deadlines.
  • Ensure all job cards are completed correctly.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, key role players and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety procedures.
  • Understand the parts ordering process.

Applicant must meet these minimum requirements :

  • Qualified in a relevant trade discipline.
  • Experience coordinating team activities to achieve results in line with the Business Unit’s strategic objectives.
  • Basic knowledge of the heavy truck and bus industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • General computer skills.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • A Certificate in Colour Matching will be an advantage.
  • A heavy vehicle driver’s licence will be an advantafe.
