Role Summary

This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden

TRATON Group R&D is driving the transformation toward smarter, safer, and more sustainable transport systems. Within the Systems Engineering organization, the Performance, Data & Analytics unit supports development through data, analytics and performance insights across our brands.

As part of this journey, the EE Analytics agile team will continue to develop and maintain its own reporting and analytics products, while also building more reusable data and platform capabilities. We are looking for a senior Data Architect to help guide this work and shape the architecture, data models and integration patterns that make E/E engineering data trusted, understandable and reusable.

This role combines a broad architectural perspective with practical technical work. You will help us make sound choices as the direction takes shape, working with data engineers, analysts and stakeholders across R&D. The resulting capabilities will support the team’s reporting and analytics, wider engineering needs, and AI-enabled applications where appropriate. The role itself remains focused on data architecture and engineering.

Job Responsibilities

As a Data Architect, you will:

  • Shape and evolve the architecture for E/E engineering data, balancing current reporting and analytics needs with opportunities to develop reusable data capabilities.
  • Design and review data models, shared definitions and integration patterns for relevant engineering data sources.
  • Guide data engineering practices for data quality, lineage, traceability and ownership, in collaboration with the relevant system and platform owners.
  • Work with analysts and stakeholders to ensure the data architecture supports reliable reporting, KPIs, performance insights and other agreed engineering needs.
  • Identify opportunities to make data products and pipelines reusable, including for AI-enabled use cases, and collaborate with AI Enablement where relevant.
  • Provide architectural guidance to data engineers and analysts, and contribute hands-on through design reviews, prototypes or technical problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with product owners, engineering stakeholders, and data platform and governance teams across R&D.

Who You Are

You are an experienced data professional with strong architectural thinking and a solid technical foundation. You can connect the detail of data models and integrations with the broader needs of an engineering organization. You are comfortable helping shape a direction while also working through practical technical choices and trade-offs.

We believe you have:

  • Experience in data engineering, analytics or modern data platforms, with architectural or technical leadership responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, semantic layers and integration patterns.
  • Experience with cloud-based data environments such as AWS, Snowflake or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with data from multiple systems or in software development or engineering environments.
  • A structured approach to data quality, traceability, ownership and governance.
  • The ability to explain architectural choices and their trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

It is a strong plus if you bring:

  • Experience with data products, federated data models or reusable data capabilities.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, automotive or systems engineering.
  • Experience working across organizational or domain boundaries.
  • Interest in how trusted engineering data can support AI-enabled applications.

You bring a collaborative, pragmatic approach and are comfortable working through open questions with others. You do not need to tick every box; if the role feels like a natural next step, we encourage you to apply.

Experience in the automotive industry is an advantage but not required. Fluency in English is necessary; Swedish is not a must.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds – your unique experience and perspectives is valuable to us.
