Design Engineer for Propulsion Development

Role Summary


We are now looking for a new design engineer who wants to join our highly competent Housings & Sealings team, which is responsible for developing housings and planar sealings for gearboxes and electric powertrains.
 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Play a vital part in the development of our electric powertrains and gearboxes for conventional powertrains. 
  • Have a strong sense of part ownership throughout design, validation, and sourcing. 
  • Work in a varied environment where design activities are mixed with frequent visits to nearby workshops, rigs, test vehicles, and production sites to build knowledge and support cross-functional collaborations. 
  • Collaborate closely with multiple cross-functional teams within Traton, such as other design teams, calculation engineers, test engineers, marketing, purchasing, aftermarket, and production. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues within Traton; MAN Truck & Bus, International, and suppliers distributed all over the world. 
  • Operate in an open work climate with a high level of knowledge exchange between employees.

You are passionate about being at the forefront of the electrification journey at Traton. You thrive with tackling challenges in design complexity and time-to-market. You have a positive attitude, a structured way of working, a creative mindset, and a strong sense of responsibility. 
 
It is relevant for you to have experience in our field of casting design and at least three years of work experience as a design engineer to join our team.

Meritorious skills: 
 

  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, in particular casting.
  • Experience of planar sealing development.
  • Good knowledge of CATIA V5.
  • Advanced CAD modelling.
  • Basic knowledge in strength calculations. 
  • Fluent in English.

We are a mixed team with development engineers, scrum masters and test engineers. Our team collaborates with other departments in three different VCT landscapes, which makes us a multiskilled and cross-functional group. We like to be at the office at Scania Technical Center mostly during our working hours and not less than 3 days a week.
