Development Engineer
Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.
Job Responsibilities
If you’re excited by the idea of working in a global, diverse, and fast-paced environment, we want you on our team! We’re responsible for developing the electrical components of our thermal management systems—from defining key requirements and crafting detailed specifications to collaborating with suppliers and driving continuous improvements. With challenging projects around every corner, we’re on the lookout for a dynamic Development Engineer – Component Owner to power our journey.
Your Role
In this role, you’ll be at the center of our development process, managing a spectrum of tasks in a high-speed, agile (SAFe) environment. Your responsibilities include:
End-to-End Component Development: Lead the lifecycle of our electrical components—from concept and specifications, through supplier collaboration and rigorous testing, to seamless production rollout.
Global Collaboration: Work closely with an international team and diverse stakeholders—from product owners and engineers to colleagues in installation, testing, production, and purchasing—ensuring smooth, cross-cultural communication.
Agile Multitasking: Embrace a fast-paced workload where your desk will rarely be “clean.” You’ll prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring top-quality results.
Continuous Improvement: Drive proactive problem-solving and process optimization to enhance product performance and streamline development.
Our Team & Culture
Join a vibrant, international team where every perspective matters. We celebrate diversity, foster inclusivity, and thrive on open knowledge sharing. Our agile approach empowers everyone to make a real impact, and our friendly, collaborative environment ensures that work is as rewarding as it is challenging.
What We’re Looking For
- Educational Background: A University Degree (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in component development or technical specification management is a plus, it’s not a must. We value the right mindset over a long resume—if you’re eager to learn, adaptable, and ready to take on challenges, you’re the perfect fit.
Skills:
- Get ready for a never-ending stream of tasks; your ability to juggle and prioritize is key.
- Strong analytical skills with a knack for creative solutions.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work seamlessly with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- A proactive, results-driven attitude with a passion for innovation—if you bring the enthusiasm and drive, we’ll support your growth every step of the way.
- Fluency in English is essential for effective communication within our global network.
We Encourage You to Apply!
Even if you don’t check every single box, if you feel you have most of the requirements and are excited by the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
