Development Engineer Design
Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.
Role Summary
We are expanding our R&D Cost Optimization Team! This cross-functional group brings together experts from purchasing, R&D, and production. We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of products and challenges.
Job Responsibilities
• Act as a key player and technical lead in active assignments, either led by yourself or one of our assignment leaders.
• Define issues and goals, find root causes, design, develop, and implement tested and verified solutions, both short term and long term.
• Rapidly respond to assignment needs with full support, building a broad network of contacts within Scania and with suppliers.
Who You Are
We are seeking an individual who thrives in cross-functional environments.
The person we are looking for will have numerous points of contact, both within Scania and across other brands within the TRATON Group.
We are looking for someone who can inspire and engage others, and who is not afraid to take initiative.
The ideal candidate is engaged, self-driven, curious, and pragmatic. As generalists, we need someone with a solution-oriented mindset who can take responsibility for their work and drive solutions forward. While analytical skills are important, the ability to shift focus from details to the bigger picture and understand the context is crucial.
This role requires a person who can identify root causes and propose both short-term and long-term solutions without getting bogged down in details.
Communication is key, and being action-oriented will be essential for success. You also have a genuine interest in Scania and it’s products.
This role also requires that:
• You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• You are a product engineer with a few years of experience in product development.
• You write and speak fluently in English.
Scania experience and fluency in Swedish (oral and written) is highly meriting.
