Development engineer - Engine optimization performance & emissions

The powertrain development at Scania stands before a great challenge in meeting upcoming emission legislation, EPA27 for the North American market and the Euro 7 for the European market. Our development group has been assigned the mission to optimize the 6-cylinder engine for the North American market and the V8-engine for the Euro 7 market.

For this we need people within the field of engine optimization, do you want to be a part of and take on this challenge with us?

What we offer

If you are interested in combustion engines and are a driven person with the urge to learn new things, we can offer you a challenging position in a stimulating and learning environment. You have great opportunities to shape your work and your future. Your personal and professional development is important and something we encourage and support.

In addition to career and development opportunities, as an employee at Scania, we can offer you other benefits such as free training at Scania's health center Gröndal or wellness allowance, performance bonuses, occupational pension, flexible working hours, lunch at a reduced price, the opportunity for a staff car and much more.

Scania also organizes several events throughout the year where family and friends are always welcome, which is usually highly appreciated by everyone. If you live in Stockholm, we also offer a direct bus service between Stockholm and Södertälje with Scania Jobexpress.

Your work assignment

You will be working within the section Emissions & Integration. Our assignment is to fulfill legal- and project demands for the lowest fuel consumption, best engine performance and highest uptime possible on the Scania V8-engine as well as the 6-cylinder engine for the North American truck manufacturer International. This will be performed in close cooperation with development engineers for the different engine and after-treatment parts within hardware and software.

A great part of the work is conducted in an engine test bed and in a test vehicle. You need to plan, perform the testing, analyse the data and present the results. You are also expected to make a recommendation on the best way forward. Vehicle testing is required to validate the engine installation and function for example in different climates.

Our development group consists of 9 co-workers and together with them you will work in a learning and evolving environment where we as a team take on this challenge and help each other to succeed.

In your work, there might also be trips abroad involved.

To continuously work with improvements, both within technology and methods, is a natural part of the work.

Your profile

•    Engineer with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent knowledge acquired through substantial work experience in the relevant area.
•    Experience in Engine control systems or Development of emissions and performance-critical components (required).
•    Experience in exhaust after-treatment technology (meritorious).
•    Proficient in English (spoken and written).
•    Valid driver's license.

We believe that you are a positive and proactive person who takes initiative without letting prestige get in the way. You communicate effectively, which is important for working with multiple development teams and departments. Your strong sense of organization helps you manage the many parameters involved in the engine control system during development and optimization.

At Scania, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. What else you lack in knowledge, we will teach you.
