Engineering Manager

TRATON Charging Solutions, established in 2023 as a part of the TRATON GROUP, is dedicated to providing seamless, reliable charging services for commercial vehicles. As an eMSP, it operates the largest charging network in Europe and powers services such as Scania Charging Access and MAN Charge&Go. With structural readiness in 22 European countries and a mission to cover the entire EU by the end of 2026, TRATON Charging Solutions is at the forefront of accelerating sustainable transport through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions. 

 

Role Summary

 

TRATON Charging Solutions is accelerating the transition to sustainable transport by delivering seamless charging services for commercial vehicles across Europe. As our business and technology landscape continue to grow, we are now seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our engineering organization and drive the development of scalable, reliable, and innovative digital solutions. 

 

This role is ideal for an experienced engineering leader with a passion for technology, people development, and modern software engineering. As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading our engineering teams, shaping the technical strategy of our platform, and ensuring that technology investments support our long-term business goals. As a member of the TCS Management Team, you will play a critical role in defining the future of our products, platform, and engineering capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and develop engineering and data engineering teams, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
  • Own people leadership within the technology organization, including hiring, onboarding, development, feedback, and performance management
  • Define and drive the strategy for the technical platform and engineering organization
  • Balance business requirements with technical sustainability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency
  • Ensure platform cost awareness and manage infrastructure and platform-related spending
  • Support prioritization of technical investments, platform improvements, and engineering enablers
  • Collaborate closely with MD, CFO, Product Lead, & Product Managers, the Operations team, rest of TRATON digital teams and managers, as well as technical leads within own organization to align technology direction and delivery priorities
  • Support teams in removing organizational blockers, managing risks, and addressing dependencies
  • Drive engineering excellence through high standards for quality, reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to company strategy and decision-making as a member of the TCS Management Team  

Who You Are

 

  • Proven leadership experience managing software engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of software development processes, modern architectures, and cloud-based platforms
  • Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach to execution and problem-solving
  • Passion for technology and a strong interest in artificial intelligence, agent-based systems, and emerging technologies
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex digital products
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience balancing technical priorities with business objectives and operational efficiency
  • Familiarity with data engineering, analytics platforms, or large-scale digital services is an advantage
  • Experience within the TRATON GROUP technology landscape or commercial vehicle software development, particularly offboard services, is highly desirable
  • Fluency in English

TRATON Charging Solutions (TCS) is a relatively new company within the TRATON Group, the commercial vehicle group of Volkswagen Group, with brands such as Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus. TCS was created to address the key challenge of providing software products that support a seamless charging experience for electrified heavy transport. It is accelerating the transition to sustainable transport by delivering seamless charging services for commercial vehicles across Europe.

 

TCS is approximately 30 people, with a presence in Stockholm and Munich. It operates as an independent unit within the TRATON Group, with a startup-like setup inside a large corporate environment.
