The TRATON Research & Development (R&D) organization is going through a transition and is establishing a worldwide Group R&D organization. In its new structure Group R&D will operate as a part of a global team developing world-class solutions for all TRATON Group’s Brands.
We are now looking for a (Senior) Export Control Manager to join TRATON Group R&D.

About us
TRATON Group R&D Strategy (based in Sweden) focuses on defining the future TRATON R&D strategy, structure and to develop the organization to deliver on its most important objectives. The (Senior) Export Control Manager will have an overall responsibility to further establish the Export Control and Trade Compliance organization within Group R&D.
Your tasks
Responsibilities of the (Senior) Export Control Manager will include leading the work of the Export Control and Trade Compliance experts in the local GR&D entities, moreover, include the further development, management and execution of the Group R&D export and import compliance program, while significantly contributing to ongoing operational tasks.
In your role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead a team of Export Control leads in the R&D entities (in Germany, USA, Brazil), individually contributing to operational elements of customs and export controls
- Implement – in alignment with TRATON SE Export Control – Governance needs for Export Control to Group R&D
- Develop, improve and execute all aspects of a compliance program (policy), including locally applying procedures, process design, classification works, periodic self-assessment in strong alignment with the brands and the cross-functions
- Implement operational business systems and tools required to achieve legal and regulatory conformity and minimize business risks, such as IT-tools for automated classification and sanctions list screening.
- Ensure that the internal R&D classification team and the operating companies are compliant with domestic and foreign export and import requirements
- Work collaboratively with R&D business and all other stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure the implementation of effective internal controls into their procedures and work instructions, to maximize business opportunities and minimize risks
- Act as a business partner to enable R&D leaders to take strategic and operational decisions e.g. on collaboration with external parties and in different countries (e.g., China, Brazil, India)
- Be the Go-To-Person for R&D, business and brands in all questions related to export controls and trade compliance
- Establish and conduct training programs to ensure understanding of Export Control and Trade Compliance
- Review, respond to, and escalate as necessary all government inquiries
- Manage internal and external audits related to Export Control and compile requested reports
- Maintain robust interaction with authorities to facilitate technology transfer projects
- Drive TRATON Group's Export control & Trade compliance agenda within GR&D
Your qualification/ minimum requirements
- Bachelor’ or master’s degree in law, import/export business administration or equal qualifications
- Minimum 5 years working experience with Export Control, Trade Compliance, import/export administration, preferably with management experience is a plus
- Knowledge: Swedish, EU and US export control laws and regulations; EU and US Customs classification, valuation, country origin rules and regulations
- Team player: able to work both individually and in collaborative, cross-functional team environment with counterparts across the world
- Business minded: positive, self-motivated personality with strong verbal communication skills, high accuracy and attention to detail
- Detailed oriented and responsive: very good analysis, problem solving & project management skills
- Pragmatic: Despite a highly regulated legal environment, business must continue. Skilled in both identifying problems and finding solutions.
- Skilled in training and explaining topics to experts and non-experts.
- Travel Requirements: The position involves frequent travel between Sweden and Germany, as well as occasional travel to stakeholders and partners in various locations.
- Fluent in English language (verbal and written). Other languages are a plus.
