Role Summary

 

This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden

Safety is our highest priority as we drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system, and electrification is a key on that journey.  For our electrified vehicles, the quality, performance, and safety are crucial in creating trust in new technology for our customers. Building this trust will be important to support our customers on their journey to sustainability. 

 


To accomplish that, we need the right capabilities and competence in our high voltage systems team. Therefore are we looking for an ambitious and driven Function Owner that will help us to define and develop our systems and functions for the Power Distribution architecture with a focus on safety functions.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

As a function owner, you own the vehicle safety functions in total. From drafting the concept, ensuring implementation and validation, preparing customer release, and collecting feedback, you are responsible for ensuring that the functions work correctly and are implemented according to the project timelines. Key responsibilities include:

  • Define VCB safety function requirements and use cases together with VCB safety managers and other team members during function concept development
  • Lead the development and design of the functions, ensuring they meet the requirements
  • Collaborate with various departments and teams to ensure seamless integration of the vehicle functions
  • Oversee the implementation of vehicle safety functions, including planning of vehicle tests, end to end test and field tests
  • Review of test specification and test results
  • Specifying appropriate test and integration methods and testcases to ensure proper test coverage

You are likely to be some or all the following:

  • A person who takes initiative and takes responsibility for your deliveries
  • A clear communicator
  • You are interested in how the vehicles work from a system and user centric perspective
  • Fluent in English 
    Some valuable skills and experiences that could help in the day-to-day work include:
  • Experience with electric vehicle systems
  • Experience working with FuSa (Functional Safety)
  • Experience with standards like ISO15118, DINSPEC_70121, IEC_61851 
  • Requirement Management  – Methods and exposure to RM tools
  • System Architecture – (System Engineering Process e.g. MBSE)
  • Experience in High Level Design  and breaking down the HLD to Detailed Design
  • Exposure to Change Management Process
  • Experience in working with Embedded Systems
  • Experience with CAN, LIN protocols or something similar and tools like CANOE, CANALYZER is an added benefit
  • Project Management and leadership skills
  • Experience of working at Scania or other TRATON group companies is also a merit

This Is Us

 

Our unit is responsible for the power distribution VCB (Voltage Class B) system (60V-1500V) for the electrified vehicles. We provide the hardware and architecture needed to charge the electric vehicles and to connect all the VCB components such as batteries and the electric machine to each other.  


Today, we are a team of about 20 members, all working on electric vehicle systems including design engineers, system owners, scrum masters, product owners, and VCB safety managers. The unit is divided into different teams with focus on certain product areas, with interfaces towards other teams at R&D, production, purchasing, service workshop representatives, and the end customer. You will be part of the VCB system team, which is responsible for both general system development and the safety of the VCB system. The team has members located in Sweden, Germany, the USA, and India.


We are in the middle of a large transformation as the international collaboration within TRATON Group is picking up speed. That means that there are many possibilities, not only to improve our products but also our way of working. The new function owner will work closely with the VCB safety managers within the team to promote, define, and develop safety functions for the relevant vehicle systems and control units.
