Join TRATON R&D Södertälje as a Senior Design Engineer - Exterior Front

Are you an experienced design engineer with a background at Scania, ready to take the next step in shaping the future of sustainable transport? At TRATON R&D in Södertälje, we’re looking for a driven and skilled individual to join our Exterior Front team, where we develop the exterior cab components that define the face of our trucks.

About the Role

As a Senior Design Engineer in our Bumper, Front Cover & Purchased System SWE group as a part of the global Exterior Front section, you’ll play a key role in the development of exterior cab parts for all TRATON brands, including Scania, MAN, International, and VW Caminhões e Ônibus. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading design and development of exterior cab components such as front panels, grilles, steps, and bumper systems using 3D CAD tools.
• Driving concept development, product maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with testing, production, purchasing, styling, and aftermarket teams.
• Coordinating with international suppliers to define technical requirements and ensure manufacturability.
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical strategy within the group.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Has 5+ years of experience in design engineering, preferably within Scania or the TRATON Group.
• Is proficient in 3D CAD (preferably Catia V5) and understands product development processes.
• Has strong communication and leadership skills.
• Is passionate about innovation, sustainability and teamwork.
