The electrification trend in the automotive industry is moving fast. For us, this means that we need to prepare to increase the production of electric vehicles and help Scania become more sustainable. An important component of an electric vehicle is the battery. 

Role Summary

As a Packaging Engineer at Scania, you will play a key role in developing and optimizing packaging solutions for our parts, components and spare parts – from supplier to assembly line. In this role, you will support production by being responsible for and providing assistance in packaging-related technical matters. This includes evaluating new materials and suppliers as well as driving change cases with associated test runs. The role will entail a good mix out of strategic mid- to long-term activities, as well as day-to-day activities and hands-on problem solving. You will work closely with purchasing, logistics, production, and external suppliers.
The goal: To ensure robust, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging within a global supply chain.

Job Responsibilities

•    Develop and design new packaging solutions
•    Optimize existing packaging with a focus on quality, environment, and cost
•    Participate in/ Drive projects related to production and logistics development
•    Perform packaging tests and evaluations
•    Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders globally
•    Drive and participate problem solving activities at line connected to packaging
•    Actively participate in assigned forums to represent the business
•    Identify improvements and come up with suggestions for the need for change
•    Calculate investment and resource needs for assigned projects
•    Drive major improvement activities to develop working methods/methods/processes

Who You Are

We are looking for someone who is analytical, solution-oriented, and passionate about sustainable development. You thrive in a technical environment and enjoy working in cross-functional teams.

We would like you to have:
•    An engineering degree in mechanical engineering, logistics, industrial economics, or a similar field
•    Several years of experience in packaging technology, production, or logistics 
•    Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English
•    Knowledge in CAD and/or packaging-related tools is an advantage
•    Very structured way of working
•    Driven to find the best solution and solve problems proactively
•    As a leader you are a good communicator, who is responsive and has the ability to inspire, motivate and develop your environment
•    You are engaged, curious and take responsibility for your activities
•    You work with resilience and support attitude

We offer an interesting job as Packaging Engineer in our Logistics Engineering and Development department. We are supporting the flow of material to produce Modules, Battery packs and Electrical Cables Harnesses which are the key components for our electrical vehicles. Our material handling process is equipped with various automatized equipment for Production and Logistics such as automatic storages, AGV´s and robots.
