Portfolio Strategy Lead - Uptime & Service
Role Summary
Do you get energy from understanding where the transport industry is heading and turning those insights into solutions that create real customer value? Do you enjoy thinking strategically, while also rolling up your sleeves to make things happen? Do you thrive in collaboration, where the best ideas emerge when different perspectives meet? Then this might be the opportunity you've been looking for.
Scania is in the middle of an exciting transformation. We are evolving from a world-leading vehicle manufacturer into a provider of sustainable transport solutions. That means challenging ourselves to develop products, services and business models that create real value for customers while strengthening our long-term competitiveness.
To make that happen, we are building a new Portfolio Management organisation that will shape Scania's future solutions portfolio. Our mission is simple to describe but not easy to achieve: understand where our customers are heading, identify the biggest opportunities and help Scania make the right choices—not only for next year, but for the next decade.
If that sounds exciting rather than overwhelming, we'd love to hear from you.
Job Responsibilities
As Portfolio Strategy Lead, you will be the strategic owner of Scania's portfolio within your area of expertise. You will combine customer insights, commercial understanding, market trends and technology opportunities into a clear direction for the future portfolio.
This is not a role where you disappear into PowerPoint presentations and return a few weeks later with a perfect answer. It is just as much about making things happen as defining where we should go. You'll bring people together, challenge assumptions, build alignment across functions and drive discussions forward until decisions are made. Some days you'll facilitate workshops. Other days you'll analyse customer insights, visit customers or chase the right people to unblock an important decision. All of it matters.
You won't own product development projects, but you will influence many of them. Working closely with colleagues across Scania Commercial, Research & Development, Group Product Management at TRATON and our global markets, you'll help shape the roadmaps that determine what Scania develops and why.
Who You Are
We believe you're someone who enjoys making sense of complexity. You're curious by nature and genuinely interested in customers, markets and business. You ask thoughtful questions, connect dots others don't see and are comfortable navigating uncertainty.
At the same time, you're not someone who gets stuck analysing forever. You are a doer. You enjoy turning ideas into progress and don't wait for perfect conditions before moving things forward. When something needs to happen, you bring people together, create momentum and help the organisation get there. You know that influence is earned through trust, credibility and delivery—not hierarchy.
This role requires someone who can zoom out and think ten years ahead—and then zoom back in to help solve what's blocking progress this week. You're equally happy discussing strategic direction with senior leaders as sitting down with colleagues from different parts of the business to solve practical problems. You build relationships naturally, enjoy working across organisational boundaries and understand that the best solutions rarely come from one person alone.
You are humble enough to listen, confident enough to challenge and pragmatic enough to know when it's time to stop discussing and start doing. You don't need all the answers. Curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to learn will take you much further than pretending you already know everything.
Experience from service business, uptime solutions, commercial strategy or portfolio management is highly valuable, as is experience working across functions in an international environment and previous managerial positions.
What We Offer
This is an opportunity to join a newly established team with a genuine chance to influence Scania's future.
You'll work on some of the most important strategic questions for our business, together with colleagues from across Scania and the TRATON Group. No two weeks will look the same. The journey ahead won't always be straightforward. We'll need to make difficult prioritisations, question existing truths and sometimes make decisions without all the answers. That's part of building the future.
What makes it worthwhile is the people you'll do it with. We believe in helping each other, challenging ideas rather than individuals and creating an environment where different perspectives are welcomed. We work hard, we laugh a lot and we genuinely enjoy solving difficult problems together.
If you're looking for a role where you can think strategically, influence widely and still get your hands dirty making things happen, you'll probably enjoy this team. This is the place if you're looking for somewhere you can make a real impact while continuing to learn every day.
