Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do.
To remain at the forefront, we continuously develop not only our products, but also our development environment, tools, methods, and ways of working. As a Release Manager, you will have a central role in this process, coordinating software releases and working with many different parts of the development organization as we develop powertrains for sustainable transport.
This Is Us
Within TRATON Group R&D, you are an important part of something bigger. Joining us means gaining access to the ins and outs of the entire transportation industry.
The System Validation & Release group (TGRPSSV) is responsible for delivering the complete software package, including both software and calibration, for the Engine and Aftertreatment Control Systems – some of TRATON's most advanced real-time control systems.
We coordinate deliveries from multiple teams working with software development and calibration and bring them together into complete software releases.
Our group consists of experienced colleagues with a variety of cultural, professional, and educational backgrounds. We see diversity as a strength and value an open and collaborative working environment where we help each other and encourage personal development.
Role Summary
This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden
As a Release Manager, you will coordinate software releases across several parallel engine projects and follow the deliveries through the different stages of the development process – from software and calibration development to testing and, ultimately, release for production and aftermarket.
You will work at the center of a broad network across the engine development organization, collaborating with software developers, calibration engineers, test leaders, project managers, production coordinators, aftermarket functions, and others.
The role gives you a broad understanding of both software and hardware development and valuable insight into how the different parts of our products and development organization come together. This makes it an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation for continued development within both technical and leadership career paths.
Job Responsibilities
In close cooperation with the other Release Managers in the group, you will coordinate and manage software releases for production and aftermarket.
Your responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and following up software and calibration deliveries throughout the release process
- Managing deviations and delivery issues together with project management and development teams
- Building complete software packages and preparing them for testing, production, and aftermarket
- Managing additional releases related to field quality issues
- Maintaining the calibration library and related databases
- Developing, improving, and ensuring the quality of the release and calibration processes
- Coordinating several projects and deliveries in parallel and ensuring that agreed milestones and release plans are met
Who You Are
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds – your unique experience and perspectives is valuable to us.
You have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, embedded systems, or a related field.
Equivalent competence gained through relevant professional experience may also be considered. You may be a recent graduate or have a few years of relevant experience.
You have a genuine interest in technology and a good understanding of software development and its different stages.
While this is not a hands-on software development role, you are comfortable working in a technical environment and communicating with developers, calibration engineers, testers, and other technical specialists.
As a large part of the role involves coordination, planning, and follow-up, you enjoy bringing structure to complex workflows and keeping track of multiple activities at the same time.
You are organized, methodical, and attentive to detail, and you take responsibility for driving deliveries forward and following up when needed.
Collaboration is an important part of the role. You communicate clearly, enjoy working with people across different functions, and are comfortable coordinating activities where several teams and dependencies are involved.
We also value curiosity and a continuous-improvement mindset. You look for opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve the way we work rather than simply following existing processes.
You are fluent in spoken and written English. Swedish is considered an advantage but is not a requirement.
