Senior Engineer
Role Summary
The section Performance, Emissions and Integration (TGRPSP) is at the core of the development of our internal combustion engines for conventional and alternative fueled trucks and buses. Our responsibility is to integrate engine, exhaust treatment and control system to meet existing and upcoming emission legislations with optimized properties for our on-road engines. Fuel consumption and CO2 is a top priority for TGRPSP. Right now we are facing the challenge of new emission legislation in several of our major markets.
The unit Diesel concept and strategy (TGRPSPD) is responsible for developing diesel combustion system, engine and exhaust treatment system concepts and the control strategies for our diesel engine families. The emphasis of the project work in the group is in concept development phase. TGRPSPD is a group of senior and expert engineers with a significant impact on what the future combustion engine based powertrains will look like and how they will perform.
Your role
As part of our deliveries we carry out advanced engineering development of the diesel combustion system. Demanding future emission legislation will need a combustion system that can run extensive thermal management without scarifying other properties, while also delivering industry leading fuel economy in normal operation.
Your assignment requires a complete system approach, balancing properties but also understanding the different pre-requisites needed for a global presence. Differences in fuel properties, lubrication oil qualities and market specific user behavior all affect the development work.
As with all novel technologies new methods need to be developed. The primary work is carried out in the concept development phase, but you need to make sure we can predict the outcome of the completed product, creating tools and processes to support that.
It is the unit’s responsibility to safeguard that the concepts and strategies chosen for a program has sufficient maturity to allow for smooth product development, meeting upcoming milestones with few deviations. Together with other experts you will recommend the correct technology to meet all project requirements.
The advanced engineering involves cooperation with many units in powertrain development, and your job is to make sure all affected parts of the organization understand and agree on the chosen combustion system and it’s features.
Your profile
Collaboration and communication is an important part of your job. The role requires that you are attracted by working in a solution-oriented and flexible way with focus on both technical details and the more strategic. You work independently and structured. You have previous experience from combustion system, exhaust treatment and/or software development.
We have many experts in the fields with whom you will cooperate. The culture in the team is open and supportive. You should be result oriented, in the sense that research and advanced engineering is aimed at reaching production. You will ensure that the development work has focus and a plan to meet project milestones.
You probably have a master's degree in engineering or have acquired equivalent knowledge during your working life, preferably with a background in engine optimization, engine management systems or the design of performance affecting parts.
You master English and preferably also Swedish
