Senior Internal Auditor

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions.

Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Role Summary

We are recruiting two Senior Internal Auditors to join Industrial, IT & Administration Audit (ZAO), part of Scania Group Internal Audit (GIA). ZAO's remit spans industrial operations, IT and information security, and corporate functions. These two positions focus on non-IT audits across areas such as manufacturing, R&D, procurement, logistics, finance, treasury, People & Culture, sustainability and governance. You will report to the Head of ZAO and work with management, process owners and audit colleagues across Scania's international operations in close collaboration with TRATON Internal audit and the other brands internal audit teams. The role is based in Södertälje, Sweden.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, risk-based audit engagements from planning and fieldwork through reporting and follow-up, with clear, evidence-based conclusions. You drive assignments with limited supervision, collaborate, share knowledge and remain responsive under changing priorities.
  • Apply professional judgement, scepticism and business insight to identify material risks, assess governance and controls, understand root causes and propose practical improvements.
  • Use data analytics, AI-assisted analysis and automation to deepen audit coverage and insights – identify risks, generate and validate outputs and increase efficiency and effectiveness of the audit process as a whole.
  • Contribute to continuous risk assessment, emerging-risk identification and Scania's dynamic audit planning process.
  • Build constructive relationships with stakeholders, communicate diplomatically while maintaining independence and objectivity.
  • Collaborate with other GIA teams, TRATON Group colleagues and external co-sourcing partners; share knowledge and coach colleagues.
  • Help develop the next generation of audit approaches, methods and digital capabilities, including responsible use of AI and advanced analytics. You bring integrity, initiative, a positive and constructive mindset, adaptability, commercial awareness and a desire to improve how we work.

Who You Are

  • Relevant university degree, for example in business, economics, finance, engineering, data science, or equivalent field.
  • Strong practical foundation in internal and external audit, risk and controls, governance or related advisory work. At least eight years of audit experience, including three or more years in internal audit.
  • Understanding of professional audit practices, including the IIA Global Internal Audit Standards, risk assessment, internal controls and fraud risk awareness.
  • Demonstrable practical experience leveraging AI, data analytics and digital technologies to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of professional work. Ability to critically validate AI-generated outputs, combined with curiosity and willingness to adopt emerging technologies. Experience with tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, ChatGPT, Copilot or similar.
  • Business-minded and risk-focused. You understand how complex organisations create value and can evaluate and prioritise strategic, operational, governance, compliance, fraud and emerging technology risks.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, professional scepticism and sound judgement. You challenge assumptions, recognise inconsistencies, distinguish symptoms from root causes and critically evaluate evidence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity and a forward-looking mindset. You communicate effectively, navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy, take ownership, demonstrate curiosity and proactively seek opportunities to learn, innovate and improve.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and willingness to travel internationally. The role involves international travel of up to approximately 25% of working time. Swedish, other languages, relevant professional certifications (e.g. CIA, CPA, CA or ACCA) and experience in industrial and automotive sectors are considered advantages.

This Is Us

You will gain an enterprise-wide view of Scania, work alongside senior leaders and specialists, and help influence how a global industrial business manages its risks. The role offers exposure to the wider TRATON Group Internal Audit community and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across MAN, International and Volkswagen Truck & Bus, exchange practices and contribute to shaping how assurance evolves across the TRATON Group.

You will join a collaborative, internationally connected team that values professional quality, curiosity and continuous learning. We are transforming how Internal Audit works by integrating AI, advanced analytics and automation with business understanding, critical thinking and independent professional judgement. We are looking for auditors who not only embrace these developments but want to actively contribute to shaping the future of our audit function.
