Thesis Project: 30 hp - AI assisted validation and verification of software
Introduction
Thesis work is an excellent way to get closer to Scania and build relationships for the future. Many of today's employees began their Scania career with their degree project. With the current boom in AI, work has started to investigate how it can be used as a tool to optimize different tasks and improve quality.
Background
In verification and validation a variety of different tools and systems to handle system requirements, test case protocols and test case scripts. Given the nature of requirements writing, they can be susceptible to interpretation by the tester. Also, since requirements for the same system can be written by different people, they can be contradictory.
The method used today to counter these issues are reviews where the requirement and test documents are proof-read and approved. With the current advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), this type of work can be greatly automated to provide consistency across system level requirements and better test case coverage to achieve higher software quality with current or increased development speed.
Objectives
- AI verifying the test protocols against test scripts
- AI to review requirements-test cases for test coverage
- AI for creation of test cases
- AI impact analysis of new functionality to existing requirements
- AI to understand high risk situations that quality control should prioritise
- AI for verifying test methods and test cases against regulated protocols such as ISO26262
