Thesis work 30 hp - Mechatronic Product Integrations in a Modular Development system
Ingress:
Traton R&D is one of the world's leading developers of heavy vehicles (Scania, MAN, International etc), and has a constant need to streamline its processes and methods in order to remain competitive and profitable.
An Efficient Product Development process have significant effect on lead-time, cost and the delivering value on investments to us and our customers.
Our customer meets our Products and Services at a complete vehicle level, and one challenge is difference in cadence and lead-times between the different mechatronics domains with physical builds – but early when using data analytics, AI and simulation instead of traditional physical testing, we can have the same speed.
Degree project is an excellent way to get closer contacts and build relationships for the future. Many of today's employees began their careers with their degree projects.
Background:
The purpose is to drive the shift towards a efficient and sustainable development system, creating a world of mobility that is better for business, society and the environment.
The transport industry is changing fast, and we need to be able to innovate and deliver more quickly. By combining our core strengths – such as the modular platform – with new ways of working, we’re rapidly developing the ideas and technologies that will shape tomorrow’s transport system.
Key enablers is to enhance integrating Soft and Hard Domains and share nomenclature and definitions as functional and property requirements to describe customer values etc
Objective:
The purpose is an analysis and assessment of needs to create proposals of changes for the evolution of the processes in product development.
We need to better understand and strengthen the capabilities in continuous integrations with fast feedback loops in a lean and agile development context on a product level - how we industrialise, start to produce and implement products and on the market.
Assignment description: The work is an analysis and evaluation of needs regarding a operational process and methods, IT and competence impacts – clarify current situation and recommendation for future actions.
Education:
Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent. The degree project is aimed at students with knowledge corresponding to specializations such as Integrated Product Development, Environmental and Sustainability, Vehicle Technology or similar.
Number of students: 2 Individual application or in pairs. Preferably with complementary profiles from specializations in the areas of integrated product development and Mechatronic products
