Thesis worker - Investigation of non-metallic housing for power distribution boxes
30 hp – Investigation of non-metallic housing for power distribution boxes
Introduction
Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with main group TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions.
Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.
Thesis work is an excellent way to get closer to TRATON/Scania and build relationships for the future. Many of today's employees began their career with their thesis project.
Background
Power distribution boxes are a critical component of modern EVs. Most power distribution boxes today come in metallic housings (e.g. Aluminium). However, using these materials adds weight and cost (metal, machining costs etc.). The Charging and Power Distribution Organisation at STC is currently looking into non metallic housing materials for power distribution boxes. This thesis project is aimed to be an enabler for this larger investigation.
Objective
To investigate different non-metallic housings for power distribution boxes and analyse risks and benefits towards their enablement in TRATON BEV projects.
Job description
As a thesis worker, you will be responsible for planning and performing the research work in service to the objective stated above, in collaboration with your unit.
You are expected to carry out an investigation for different non metallic materials and their associated risks, perform risk analyses and propose mitigation measures, investigate dependencies across the power distribution R&D organization, perform cost and benefit analysis, develop test plans, and present results.
