UX Researcher for Transport Efficiency
TRATON is a group of strong brands with a shared mission: transforming transportation together to create the future of sustainable transport solutions. Our portfolio includes MAN, Scania, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International. As part of a global team of industry experts, you will think bigger, experience more, and reach further — together we have the power to transform transportation.
Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – guide everything we do.
Role Summary
To take our driver-oriented features and services to the next level, we now need a dedicated UX Researcher who can turn assumptions into clear direction and join our UX shared service team.
Join Transport Efficiency within TRATON Group R&D and become the go-to person for user insight in a team of UX specialists, a graphical designer, and highly skilled engineers. Your work will decide what we test, how we pilot new functionality with customers, and where we invest next.
Through customer research, early pilots, and small-scale real-world tests, you will give us the evidence we need to move faster, reduce risk, and ensure that what we build truly supports drivers and transport operators. If you like combining analytical thinking with empathy and impact, this role is central to how we move forward.
Job Responsibilities
· Own and prioritize a research and pilot plan for driver-oriented features together with the team.
· Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative studies with drivers and transport stakeholders—interviews, field studies, surveys, and usability tests.
· Design and run small-scale customer pilots that test hypotheses in real operations and give us hard data on value and behavior.
· Translate findings into clear recommendations for product direction, scope, and UX decisions—and follow through as features evolve.
· Collaborate closely with developers, UX colleagues, designers, and product owners so that research shapes requirements, concepts, and implementation—not just validation at the end.
· Communicate insights in a way that makes it easy for the team to act: sharp summaries, visualizations, and “this is what we should do next.”
Your work will be a key enabler for faster, more confident product decisions.
Who You Are
We welcome candidates from both academic and work-proven research backgrounds. If you are unsure whether you meet “enough” requirements, please apply—your perspective may be exactly what we need.
You are likely a strong match if you:
· Have experience in UX research, human factors, behavioural science, service design, or a related field.
· Are comfortable going from open questions (“What should we build next?”) to structured studies and clear insights.
· Can explain what we know, what we don’t know yet, and how to find out—in language that engineers, designers, and stakeholders understand.
· Enjoy being part of a kind, collaborative, and cross-functional team, where listening is as important as influencing.
· Are motivated by helping real people—drivers and transport operators—have smoother and more efficient workdays.
Experience with automotive, transport, HMI, or field research is a plus, but not a requirement.
