There is now an exciting opportunity for a Machine Safety Specialist to join Scania's global Health, Safety and Environment organization. This organization is involved in governance and support for health and occupational safety at corporate, global, and local levels. Headquartered in Södertälje, the organization is represented at production sites in Södertälje, Oskarshamn, Luleå, Zwolle (Netherlands), and Angers (France).

Location: Södertälje, with responsibilities across Sweden and globally, requiring some travel.
Work Flexibility: We offer a hybrid work model, allowing one to two days of remote work per week, depending on business needs.
The purpose of the operational Machine Safety Specialist role is to ensure that the machines Scania acquires comply with both legal requirements and Scania's own standards. This involves providing strategic support and proactive advice to Scania’s production engineering organization, and acting as an independent expert to mitigate workplace risks and raise safety awareness within the company.
Your Duties
Participate, support, advise, and guide in machine investment projects regarding machine safety issues.
- Keep stakeholders informed about new and updated legislation and Scania requirements.
- Offer guidance and participate in investigations into more complex incidents involving machinery.
- Provide guidance and participate in more complex risk assessments within investment projects.
- Review and identify deviations in technical solutions, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and standards.
- Undertake business trips related to supplier visits, delivery inspections/FAT, and assist in urgent actions critical to Scania's operations.
- Validate Production Certificates prior to commissioning.
- Monitor developments in regulations such as the Machinery Directive and Regulation, and the use of work equipment.
- Actively participate in forums, meetings, working methods, committees, and processes within the field of machine safety.
Your Profile
You are a trained engineer in mechanics or electrical engineering or have equivalent competence, preferably with experience from the manufacturing industry.
Merits:
- Certified Machine Safety Specialist/Expert.
- Trained Occupational Safety Engineer with knowledge of occupational risks and general safety legislation.
- Familiarity with other relevant legislation, including ATEX, PED, and standardization work related to the Machinery Directive.
- Knowledge of the PEIP and TED processes.
To succeed in this role, you need to be curious, driven, and structured. You have a good ability to collaborate and communicate. You are pedagogical and work with a prestige-free and trust-based approach. You have the ability to adapt to prevailing conditions. The role also involves developing Scania’s approach to occupational safety, which requires a strong interest in working from a business benefit perspective and promoting a healthy work culture. You will be an ambassador for Scania and its occupational health services.

- Good language and writing skills in Swedish and English.
