Role Summary
As a Global Technical Support Engineer, you play a critical role in supporting Scania Business Units and customers worldwide. When complex technical challenges arise that cannot be solved locally, you and your colleagues become the experts our markets rely on for fast, reliable guidance to get customer vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible.
You will provide technical support for Scania’s full product range—trucks, buses, and power solutions—helping secure performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction across the globe. Your work directly contributes to customer uptime and ensures Scania products return to operation with minimal delay.
This position is based in Shah Alam, Malaysia, where we are establishing a regional team of Global Technical Support Engineers. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Asia-Oceania, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. The team belongs to Global Customer Support (UBG) within Business Operations in the newly formed Scania Commercial organisation.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the expert partner to our Business Units by helping them identify solutions to complex technical problems—ensuring vehicles return to operation quickly and with high quality.
- Use your own technical expertise while also collaborating with experienced colleagues within Global Technical Support to share knowledge and solve challenging cases.
- Work closely with R&D teams when needed to resolve the most complex and advanced technical issues.
- Build strong relationships with Local Technical Support (LTS) teams around the world to ensure fast, reliable support and smooth escalation processes.
- Support selected LTS teams in continuously improving their troubleshooting methods, cooperation routines, and technical support processes.
- Maintain and develop a broad technical understanding of Scania’s products and support tools, while also deepening your expertise in one or more technical areas.
- Contribute to overall customer uptime by ensuring that technical issues are handled accurately, efficiently, and professionally.
Who You are
We believe you bring a strong technical foundation and a passion for helping customers succeed and you likely have:
- A solid general understanding of automotive technology, ideally paired with deeper expertise in one or more areas such as:
- Powertrain
- Electrical systems
- Automotive communication networks (e.g CAN, Ethernet)
- Advanced troubleshooting
- Experience in a technical support role with high customer interaction is an advantage.
Education and experiences
You may have gained your skills through:
- Extensive practical experience from roles such as senior technician, master technician, workshop manager, or similar technical positions where you have accumulated strong technical expertise over time, or
- An engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar - combined with relevant hands‑on experience.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical matters clearly and concisely.

- English is the primary working language and a high level of fluency is required.
