Sr Software Developer (Android Auto)

The TRATON Group Research & Development (R&D) organization is undergoing a major transformation with the goal of becoming an even stronger Group by completing the establishment of a global Group R&D structure. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Sr Software Developer to join our new Android Automotive development unit in São Bernardo do Campo, SP.

 

This will be a change to be part of something from the beginning as we expand our SW development from Sweden, Germany and US to also include Brazil.

In the role of SW Developer, you will contribute to building high-performance android automotive applications using Kotlin and Jetpack components.

You will work in an agile, cross-functional, cross-border environment where your expertise in Clean Architecture, system integration, and performance optimization will be key to delivering reliable and scalable solutions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, implement, and maintain Android Automotive integrations and applications using Kotlin and Jetpack components.
  • Apply Clean Architecture principles, including unit testing and code quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, prioritize, and deliver features.
  • Participate actively in agile workflows, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and code reviews.

You thrive in collaborative, agile teams, and enjoy tackling complex technical challenges, and making thoughtful design decisions. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly, and are hands-on — not afraid to test and develop code directly on our trucks to deliver best-in-class solutions. 

 

Your Skills and Expertise:

 

  • Core Architecture & Development: Strong grasp of Clean Architecture, MVVM, and SOLID principles; expert in Kotlin and Jetpack components.
  • Android Automotive development: Understands the Android Automotive system, how the components and apps communicate and integrate within the system.
  • Testing & Quality: Skilled in unit, instrumentation, and UI automation testing (JUnit, Espresso), snapshot testing for multi-brand UI consistency, and ensuring high code quality.
  • Additional Skills: Knowledge of internationalization/localization, dynamic theming, design systems for multi-brand UX, and strong communication and leadership for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Language: You have knowledge on English language, you will need to communicate, report, be participant on meetings, planning or any other form of interaction that will require you to understand and communicate with a multi-nationality team often.

 

Bonus:

 

  • Performance & Optimization: Experience in system integration, memory management, profiling tools (Android Profiler, LeakCanary), and optimizing startup time for large-scale apps.
  • CI/CD & Agile: Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), Gradle optimization, multi-flavor/multi-brand builds.
