Payroll Specialist with a Focus on Data, Technology and Projects

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions.

Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Do you want to work data‑driven within Payroll in an environment where technology, quality and business meet? We are now looking for a Payroll Specialist with a strong focus on data, digital workflows and projects, who wants to be a key player in the development of Scania’s payroll processes.

In this role, you combine deep payroll expertise with a modern way of working, where data, integrations and digital development are central tools for creating stable, scalable and future‑proof solutions. You will be an important part of Payroll within People  Services Sweden and work at the intersection of operations, technology and delivery.

The Role

As a Payroll Specialist, you have both an operational and strategic role. You work closely with payroll administrators, system experts, finance and other stakeholders, and act as the link between the payroll process and its ecosystem — for example time and travel expense solutions.

You have clear responsibility for ensuring data quality, stable integrations and efficient workflows, as well as driving improvements based on analysis, insights and business needs.

What We Offer

You will work in an engaged and knowledgeable team where collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement are central. Payroll works closely with the system group, payroll administration, and colleagues in Poland who handle time system support and travel expense administration.

You become part of a culture characterized by:

  • data‑driven decision‑making
  • continuous development and learning
  • strong service orientation
  • professional and accessible communication

Scania also offers a flexible work model, including the possibility to work remotely to some extent.

Your Responsibilities

The role includes both operational and development‑oriented tasks. For example:

Examples of operational work:

  • Work with payroll runs with a focus on data quality, reconciliations and analysis
  • Manage and follow up files, integrations and system flows related to payroll
  • Quality‑assure output after payroll closing and ensure correct reporting
  • Maintain registers from a master data and quality perspective
  • Drive and participate in improvement initiatives and digital development of Payroll processes
  • Represent Payroll in both small and large projects
  • Provide qualified support to payroll administrators, finance and other stakeholders
  • Work with annual processes such as calendar year and vacation year transitions

You will have many contact points — both internally within Scania and externally with suppliers and authorities.

Examples of project and development‑oriented work:

An important part of the role is long‑term development work. This includes:

  • Leading and contributing to projects related to digitalization, automation and improvements
  • Gathering and analyzing new requirements and translating them into sustainable solutions
  • Planning and executing strategic activities within Payroll
  • Ensuring that systems, processes and data support both business and customer needs
  • Being an active participant in several ongoing and upcoming development initiatives

Your Profile

We are looking for someone analytical, communicative and structured — who enjoys a role where you combine detail orientation with a holistic perspective.

You have:

  • Several years of experience as a Payroll Specialist
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and collective agreements
  • Experience working with payroll processes
  • Experience working closely with systems, integrations and digital workflows
  • Experience in project management and process development
  • Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English

You are a team player with strong service orientation and genuine commitment to your work.

Meritorious:

  • Documented experience leading larger projects
  • Experience with system and acceptance testing
  • Experience with payroll and time systems
  • Experience working with master data and data quality

 About the Team

Payroll is one of five departments within People Services Sweden and consists of 24 employees with broad competence and diverse backgrounds. We have an open and supportive culture where we gladly share knowledge and help each other succeed.
