Scania Finance Southern Africa (SFZ) was established in 2000 with headquarter in Johannesburg, South Africa.

 

Today, SFZ services Scania customers in Southern and Eastern Africa, covering captive and non-captive dealerships in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, and Kenya with an ambition to further strengthen its presence within other African countries.

 

SFZ employs 55 dedicated individuals, servicing 688 customers with 9240 contracts. It maintains a healthy finance penetration in excess of 60% and with a growing portfolio exceeding R 10.5 bn.

 

As our current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be moving into next role within Scania Group, we are now looking for a successor.

Job Description

Reporting to the SFZ Managing Director (MD) and being a valued member of the management team, the CFO is responsible for the Finance Department. The Finance department handles the financial aspects of the company, including financial reporting, business control, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting to local statutory bodies and to Head Office in Sweden.

  • The position is also responsible for reporting accurate financial results to several stakeholders.
  • The CFO is also responsible for the business support department, handling the contract administration, customer queries, invoicing and allocation of payments. The Business support department is also responsible to make sure all documentation and securities are in place prior to an activation and payment.
  • Furthermore, the CFO is operationally responsible for the Risk and Compliance department, ensuring compliance to internal and external policies and regulation, while supporting and advising the business to achieve the targets and development in an compliance manner.

 

A key component of the CFO’s responsibilities will be that of funding via the Debt Capital Markets, and local banking partners. The CFO is considered first point of contact with local auditors and bank authorities for completion of directives, reporting and ad hoc queries.

 

Leadership experience and leadership through Scania leadership principals is essential to succeed in this role.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • active participation in formulating company´s strategy and supporting tactical initiatives,
  • development of financial and tax strategies,
  • managing the capital risk and budgeting processes,
  • managing the accounting, investor relations, tax, and treasury functions,
  • monitoring of cash balances and cash flow forecasts,
  • liquidity, funding and refinancing and interest rate risk management,
  • statutory reporting
  • managing contract activation and payout process
  • ongoing co-development and co-monitoring of management control systems, internal controls and compliance designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results to several stakeholders.

Your Profile

 

We are looking for an experienced Scania Manager with finance experience from relevant position and practice. To be successful in this role, your understanding of the local environment and the Scania ambition in the region is crucial.

You should have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, you need to have excellent communication skills, fully adopt to Scania leadership, core values and The Scania Way

Your skills and formal qualifications should preferably include:

  • strong skills for effective financial management and analysis,
  • experience within treasury, funding and risk management,
  • ability to build strong leadership,
  • university degree, preferably in finance or accounting,
  • at least 10 years of work experience in line with the requirements.
