Group Credit Manager

Role Summary
This role is responsible for the strategic management of the Credit Department Business activities within the organisation. Including developing and implementing business plans, establishing and meeting Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets, leading and controlling the Credit team, in order to achieve business objectives. They are responsible that the debtor risk are managed within agreed limits within the Scania Southern Africa Area which includes Scania South Africa (Pty) Ltd (SZA), Scania Botswana (Pty) Ltd, Scania Namibia (Pty) Ltd and Independent Dealers.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day to day activity of the Credit Department Business Unit, ensuring the efficient allocation of tasks and resources to achieve the business objectives
- Ensure items as per the Credit Policy are adhered and applied by the Business
- Annually review the Credit Policy and to align with the Global Group Policy
- Member of the Scania Credit Committee and active participation
- To minimise DSO and Bad Debt Provision to increase profitability and ensure that targets are achieved
- Collection of overdue payments and assist with legal issues
- To ensure that the team is kept motivated; through coaching; supporting and assisting with their development
- Develop and maintain relations with Dealers within the Scania Network and customers
- Act as Project Leader on Business Improvement Requirements to ensure improved efficiencies
- To serve as a business support function to dealerships/departments in the business
- To establish and maintain procedures for monthly communication to customers
- Daily monitoring of applicable Debtors Age Analysis
- Daily monitoring of the Reconciliation Tool
- Compilation of applicable Credit Reports in line with Head Office requirements
- Claiming of Foreign payments in line with Foreign Exchange Control Legislation
- Credit Vetting of applicable Credit Applications / Credit Limit Increases received
- Determine Credit Limits and payment terms
- Custodian of the Credit data of all customers
- Distribution of New Vehicle Report Outstanding and follow up
- Perform overrides in line with Credit Policy Mandate
- Compile Cash Flow Receivable Report for period
- Responsible for AML Reporting
Education and/or Experience
- University education preferably in Finance
- Extensive credit and managerial experience
- Legal background Essential
- Ability to analyse Key Financial Statements Ratio’s
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of National Credit Act
- In depth understanding of Letter of Credit (LC) as payment mechanism
- General knowledge of legal processes i.e. sureties, letter of demand, guarantees etc
- A high level of analytical, innovation and business skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and manage key relationships and deliver excellent customer service.
- Ability to identify opportunities for business unit improvement.
- Ability to take initiative and work under pressure.
