Role Summary

The technical trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs. The duties include supporting Scania by delivering high quality training activities, face to face or remotely. This includes preparing, conducting, and evaluating technical training programs as well as writing materials and designing learning activities to enhance the learner’s experience.  This role ensures participants gain the necessary knowledge and skills to efficiently use tools, systems or products. The trainer will work closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and management to assess training needs and develop effective learning solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the identification of training needs, including the proposal of learning solutions 
  • Apply technology like computer software, electronic training aids, blended learning tools and techniques in the delivery of training
  • Design and build training aids to assist with the delivery of training
  • Plan, design and implement competency based assessments to measure participant performance
  • Conduct, analyse and prepare course evaluation reports
  • Ensure training records are maintained 
  • Maintain knowledge of changes, improvements concerning the apprentice program 
  • Improve own training, presentation and learning materials connected.
  • When requested carry out other reasonable duties and responsibilities not specifically mentioned in the job description during the course and scope of employment

Experience and Qualification

  • Matric Certificate & Trade Certificate in Diesel Mechanic (not negotiable)
  • Facilitator Qualification
  • Registered Assessor & Moderator through NAMB or MERSETA (Not Negotiable)
  • Understanding of South Africa Qualification Authority (SAQA)
  • Understanding National Qualification Framework (NQF), Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services (MERSETA)
  • Valid driver's license and own transport
  • Heavy vehicle training experience an advantage
  • Ability to display an understanding of a trainer role (Training Matrix, Ability to quantify training and its benefits)
  • Be able to conduct resource planning
  • Experience with MS Office: Ms Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
  • Excellent Planning and organizing skills
  • Excellent in written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel
