AI Engineer
Role Summary
Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Our team at Commercial AI and Advanced Analytics is growing, and we are looking for an ambitious Junior to Mid-level AI Engineer to join our journey.
You’ll be a vital part of the transformation of Scania commercial into a more data-driven company by ensuring that data and AI become a natural part of the organizational workflow and impact present- and future decisions on business and product strategy.
Job Responsibilities
- Build AI agents, workflows, tools and automations that solve real customer, product and operations problems.
- Apply LLMs, retrieval, tool calling, evaluations, guardrails and automation to practical financial workflows.
- Design and build AI-assisted user experiences that simplify internal workflows and business operations.
- Work with product and engineering teams to identify what is worth building, then build it quickly and improve it in production.
- Design around real constraints: accuracy, hallucination risk, latency, cost, security, compliance and user trust.
- Turn manual processes into reliable AI-enabled systems that can scale.
- Influence across disciplines and teams to ensure we are making data-driven decisions and solving critical problems for our customers.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences and contribute as a team player.
Qualifications
We would love to talk with you if you recognize yourself in most of the following:
-
Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications or workflows (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, structured outputs, or multi-step agentic pipelines), whether through professional work, open-source contributions, or robust personal projects.
-
Master’s in computer science, Statistics, physics, or a related field
-
Expertise in LLMs, retrieval, tool calling, evaluations, MLops, with hands-on experience in deploying models in production environments.
-
Solid software design and development skills in Python, with an emphasis on clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
-
Great interpersonal skills including strong written and verbal communication
Your Profile
You are a team player who takes ownership, builds cross-functional relationships with senior peers and loves sharing knowledge with fellow data scientists, software engineers, and cross-functional teams across the globe. Understanding a business problem and applying AI to try and solve it is one of your passions.
When approaching a problem you can be hypothesis-driven and you love (data) storytelling and use visualization of data to explain facts. Furthermore, you proactively manage relevant stakeholders and/or teams to drive an intended outcome and on top of that, you are curious, self-directed and want to keep learning!
What We Offer
We can offer you a dynamic workplace with varied and challenging work assignments in a hybrid working setup, which means that we work two days a week at the office. We can also offer other benefits such as free training at Scania's health center Gröndal or wellness allowance, performance bonus, occupational pension, flexible working hours, lunch at a reduced price, the opportunity for a staff car and much more.
We are looking forward to reading your application!
