Role Summary
This role is part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden.
As we launch a common electrical architecture across Scania, MAN, International, and VW Truck & Bus we’re searching for a passionate Audio Hardware Owner. You will play a central role in the development of next-generation speakers, subwoofers, and microphones – shaping the sound experience in trucks used worldwide. You’ll work in a global, cross-functional team and take full ownership of your components from concept to production.
Job Responsibilities
- Own the full life-cycle of the truck audio components – from concept and sourcing to series production and end-of-life.
- Translate vehicle-level sound-quality goals into clear, complete requirement specifications for suppliers.
- Balance cross-functional input from purchasing, software, wiring harness, testing, manufacturing, installation, and the brand sound-tuning teams.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards (EMC/EMI, environmental robustness, etc.) and support Functional Safety/ASPICE as needed.
- Drive the technical roadmap (e.g., active-noise control) by benchmarking, exploring the market and staying curious to keep our technical solutions ahead of customer expectations.
- Work agile with your components, support system-level audio performance and embrace an early test-and-learn mindset.
- Collaborate closely with installation teams to ensure that acoustic performance is optimized within the unique constraints of cab environments, balancing hardware specifications with the creation of an engaging sound stage and refined acoustic response for drivers.
Who You Are
Education & experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Mechatronics or similar.
- Background in automotive electronics or audio hardware development. We also value deep hobby or side-project audio expertise, as well as a strong drive to explore new technical areas.
Technical skills
- Acoustics & loudspeaker design fundamentals, PCB/layout awareness, EMC/EMI mitigation.
- Comfort with requirements management tools and basic scripting or data analysis to interpret test results.
- Working knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and ASPICE is a plus, but not a deal-breaker.
Personal qualities
- Motivated, self-organizing and able to take holistic responsibility for a component family.
- Strong communicator who enjoys gathering global input across functions to reach the best results.
- Inclusive and collaborative mindset; able to facilitate discussions and help the team move forward in an agile way.
- Curious, creative, and driven to challenge yourself. At TRATON you’ll find many experienced colleagues eager to share their knowledge.
Language
- Fluent English is required (corporate language).
- Swedish is highly meritorious; German is a nice bonus.
