Role Summary

We are now looking for a Chief Engineer – Thermal & Software to join our Global Domain team.

In this role, you will have a key responsibility in connecting technology with commercial needs. You will lead the development of long-term strategies and product roadmaps for:
•    Thermal systems (cooling and heating)
•    Battery Management System (BMS)
•    Energy Management Unit (EMU)

You will report to the Domain Head and be a key member of the Domain Management Team. This means you will be part of shaping the full direction of the domain, and contribute to strategic decisions across the global organization.

The role requires a strong ability to connect engineering development with business understanding. You will collaborate closely with product teams, engineering teams, brand representatives, and commercial stakeholders across TRATON sites worldwide.

Your Main Tasks

•    Develop and consolidate the product strategy for Thermal, BMS, and EMU systems
•    Lead product roadmapping activities, ensuring alignment with customer needs and TRATON’s modular strategy
•    Work closely with the commercial organization and brand stakeholders to include market requirements and business insights into planning
•    Drive and support early-phase concept development, turning ideas into clear product definitions
•    Prepare and present strategic updates in technical, governance, and management meetings
•    Be an active member of the Domain Management Team, influencing cross-domain decisions
•    Support the Domain Head in preparing agendas, meeting material, and strategic documents
•    Collaborate with finance and domain leadership on the budget process
•    Support ongoing projects and ensure their connection to the long-term strategy

Who You Are

You are someone who:

•    Has experience in product planning, strategy, or technology leadership, preferably in the transport or automotive industry
•    Can balance technical insight with commercial thinking
•    Understands thermal systems, energy management, and embedded software systems
•    Works well across functions, cultures, and levels, from engineers to senior leaders
•    Has strong communication skills and can explain complex topics clearly
•    Takes initiative, works independently, and brings structure in a dynamic environment
•    Speaks and writes English fluently
•    Is open to international travel when needed
