Design Engineer for Cab Interior

Role Summary

In the role as design engineer you will be a member of the group Interior rear, collaborating with global and local stakeholders in the Group R&D as well as key stakeholders as styling, egonomics, market, production and purchasing. You will be responsible for components within storages and beds.

Interior rear design group is developing the interior of the Scania cab. We are talking about products like seats, beds, storages, trim and door components. You will come to a group with deep knowledge about the interior and the way the interior is designed so you will without any doubt find support if needed. In total the group consists of 19 persons. Except design engineers you will find Scrum masters and Product owners in the group.

Our development work in this position is based on an combination of  doing the drawings and models plus writing specifications for components which are developed by system suppliers. You will work together with colleagues from industrial design, ergonomics, production and purchasing plus our suppliers in creating the best solution for the purpose.

We expect you to have:

 

  • A university degree in mechanical engineering, product development, or similar.
  • Experience in Catia V5 at least 4 years, if you have been working with Enovia it is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of product development of plastic and sheet metal components.
  • Able to create and follow schedules for your own work and is ready to act on deviations.

 

Your personal qualities:

 

  • Flexible, creative and diplomatic as many interests must be weighed together in the development work.
  • Be able to communicate in a concrete and clear way with those affected.
  • Interest in the emotional values of the design, what it looks like, what impressions the product gives, does it “feels” good.
  • It is an benefit if you are handy and can build simple prototypes on your own or together with colleagues.

 

As our group Interior rear is part of TRATON Group, we are closely collaborating with the brands in the group (Scania, MAN & INTERNATIONAL). In your role it’s therefore important to have a group perspective in the development work.

Requirements

  • You have at least 4 years of experience within companies with developing of own products or developing for manufacturing companies. Automotive development experience is of great value.
  • Least 4 years of design work in Catia V5.

  • You possess strong technical skills and have experience presenting to groups and advising concerned cross functions.
  • You are a collaborative team player who values service-oriented cooperation with managers and employees and fosters a positive work environment.
  • You demonstrate reliability, discretion, and diplomatic behaviour.
  • You are proficient in written and spoken English for effective communication with an global audience; knowledge of Swedish is highly valued. Experience in German is also an advantage.
