Distribution Network Contract Specialist

Role Summary

Scania’s global distributor network is a fundamental part of how we reach and serve our customers around the world. As our business, regulatory environment and Distribution Network Strategy continue to evolve, the contractual framework governing our distributor relationships must evolve with them.

Today, Scania’s distributor agreements have been established over many years and vary across markets in structure, content and maturity. Some agreements have been in place for decades, while new legislation, compliance requirements and business models have continued to develop. We are therefore taking the next step in creating a more consistent, transparent and sustainable approach to how distributor agreements are governed and managed globally.

As Distribution Network Contract Specialist, you will lead the work to establish and begin implementing Scania’s future Distribution Network Contract Governance Framework.

Your mandate will span the full transformation journey: creating transparency across the existing agreement landscape, identifying contractual and compliance gaps, developing the future contractual framework and governance model, and coordinating the alignment of existing distributor agreements with the new approach.

An equally important part of the assignment is to ensure that the framework remains effective beyond the initial transformation. You will therefore establish clear ownership, governance, lifecycle-management processes and ways of working that enable Scania to systematically maintain and continuously improve its distributor agreements as legislation, compliance requirements and business needs evolve.

Working at the intersection of Commercial Operations, Legal, Compliance, Distribution Network Management and our regional organisations, you will translate strategic, commercial and regulatory requirements into practical contractual structures and governance processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish the current-state baseline by creating transparency across Scania’s existing distributor agreement portfolio, including contractual structures, variations, maturity, key obligations and identified gaps.
  • Develop the future contractual framework for distributor relationships, working closely with Legal, Compliance and Commercial stakeholders to ensure that agreements reflect Scania’s strategy, current regulatory requirements and future business needs.
  • Establish contract governance and ownership, defining clear roles, responsibilities, decision rights, standards and escalation principles across central, regional and market organisations.
  • Drive the alignment of existing distributor agreements with the future framework by establishing a structured approach to prioritisation, gap assessment, remediation and implementation together with relevant regional and functional stakeholders.
  • Build a sustainable contract lifecycle-management approach, including processes for agreement creation, approval, amendment, renewal, storage, accessibility, monitoring and periodic review.
  • Establish mechanisms for regulatory and compliance updates, ensuring that changes in legislation, compliance requirements and Scania policies can be systematically assessed and incorporated into distributor agreements when required.
  • Ensure alignment across the wider Distribution Network Management Framework, connecting distributor agreements with relevant steering documents, governance requirements, the Independent Distributor Code of Conduct (IDCC), Scania Code of Practice (SCoP) requirements and related business processes.
  • Identify and manage contractual and governance risks, working with Legal, Compliance and business stakeholders to define and drive appropriate mitigation actions.
  • Create tools, templates and guidance that enable regions and business stakeholders to work consistently and effectively with distributor agreements.
  • Establish a continuous-improvement model so that Scania’s contractual framework remains relevant, compliant and aligned with business needs beyond the initial project.
  • Throughout the assignment, you will act as the project lead and central subject-matter expert bringing together stakeholders across functions and geographies to create a practical and sustainable global framework.

Who You Are

You are a structured and pragmatic professional who enjoys turning complexity into clear frameworks, processes and ways of working. You are comfortable operating where commercial strategy, contracts, governance and compliance intersect, and you understand that an effective contractual framework must do more than manage legal risk.

You are able to move between strategic questions and practical implementation. You can analyse an existing landscape, identify what needs to change, develop a future approach and then work with stakeholders to make that change happen. Because this is a global and highly cross-functional assignment, you are a strong relationship builder and communicator, able to influence decisions and drive progress even when you do not have formal authority.

You also bring a continuous-improvement mindset. Rather than solving individual contractual issues in isolation, you look for the underlying structures, governance and processes that will prevent the same issues from recurring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Commercial Management, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience within contract management, commercial governance, legal advisory, compliance, or a comparable role in an international organisation.
  • Experience with working with commercial contracts, distribution or dealer agreements, franchise management, or similar business models.
  • Experience driving governance, cross-functional projects, or business process development.
  • Ability to balance legal compliance with commercial objectives and translate complex legal matters into practical business solutions.
  • Experience working with contract lifecycle management, governance frameworks, or policy implementation is considered highly valuable.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functions and organisational levels.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
