Role Summary
This is a broad and senior in-house legal role, offering the opportunity to work on complex legal, commercial and strategic matters in a global and evolving business landscape.
The role includes work with commercial agreements, corporate governance, strategic projects, reorganizations and other legal matters across different areas of Scania’s business, from established operations to new technologies, partnerships and business models. The work has a clear international dimension, involving matters across Scania’s global operations and the wider TRATON Group. You will have considerable independence and work closely with business stakeholders and management, advising on strategic matters and a variety of projects while also supporting day-to-day legal issues.
Job Responsibilities
- Advise on legal, contractual and strategic matters, across a broad range of areas such as sales and marketing, R&D, new technology and business models, IP, IT, partnerships, M&A and corporate matters, as well as disputes and other complex legal issues.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documentation.
- Handle corporate law and corporate governance matters, including internal decision-making processes.
- Provide legal support in projects, reorganizations, business transformations and other cross-functional initiatives, contributing with legal judgment and risk assessment throughout the decision-making process.
- Assess relevant legal and regulatory developments and support the organization in interpreting new requirements and implementing appropriate actions, processes and ways of working.
- Manage and coordinate external legal advisors in Sweden and other jurisdictions when appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of technology driven legal work flows, templates, tools and trainings.
Who You Are
You have a Swedish law degree and several years (15+) of relevant professional experience, preferably from a law firm, an in-house legal function, or both. You bring a strong foundation in international commercial and corporate law and are highly experienced in drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements.
We believe you are a curious and dependable senior legal professional with high integrity. You are self-driven, business-oriented and responsive, with the ability to take ownership, provide sound judgement and contribute to continuous improvement. You are comfortable advising senior stakeholders, able to challenge constructively when required, and skilled at balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
You easily move between strategic issues, complex projects and day-to-day business advisory work, and are used to navigating an international organization with many stakeholders and changing priorities.
You actively support collaboration and knowledge sharing, and are interested in developing more efficient ways of working. Experience with legal tech, AI tools and digitalised legal workflows is an advantage. You communicate clearly in both Swedish and English.
This Is Us
As Scania continues its transformation from a traditional global truck manufacturer into a leading provider of complete and sustainable transport solutions, Group Legal Affairs plays an important role in enabling the business with practical, high-quality legal advice across the organization. You will be based in Södertälje and be part of Group Legal Affairs, a dedicated and experienced team with broad legal expertise, reporting to the Head of Corporate & Commercial. The team acts independently as a provider of legal services, expertise and governance, while also constructively challenging the business.
