Experienced Strategic Purchaser to Scania Powertrain Procurement

Are you ready to be at the forefront of change? Scania is a world leading provider of transport solutions operating in over 100 countries. We set out to drive the shift towards sustainable transport systems that is better for business, society and the environment.

Scania Powertrain Procurement is responsible for procurement of casted, forged and machined parts, as well as supplier developed components for our engines, gearboxes and much more. We support our manufacturing sites worldwide. Scania is part of the Traton group, and close alignment with the Traton procurement areas are expected. We are now looking for an experienced purchaser to strengthen our commodity team.

What You’ll Do
As a purchaser, you will play a key role in managing your product category in a global context, working with suppliers and sister brands all over the world. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and manage the supplier base, creating and executing strategies that align both cross-functionally within Scania and across the Traton Group.
  • Take ownership of key performance targets, including cost savings, delivery precision, and sustainability, among others.
  • Lead and drive the collaborative efforts within Procurement, working closely with colleagues from project purchasing and supplier quality to ensure alignment and successful execution of initiatives. As the commodity purchaser, you will take the lead in developing and optimizing the work within this team.

We expect you to achieve this by following and improving current procurement processes. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives, identify development opportunities, and collaborate closely with other departments to implement solutions that enhance productivity and the quality of our work.

Our office is based in Södertälje and we are employing a hybrid work set-up, meaning that if needed you have the opportunity to work from home or our office in central Stockholm some days of the week.

Your profile
We are seeking a commercially driven individual, with a passion for business and a strong interest in staying close to technology. You have strong negotiation skills, a strategic mindset and a strong commercial approach. You are analytical, structured, and proactive, with a talent for managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Skilled at building relationships, you confidently represent procurement both internally and externally. Self-motivated and high in integrity, you are dedicated to supporting the team’s growth and success.

You take pride in your responsibilities and consistently deliver high-quality results on time. At Scania, we value openness and continuous improvement, so we seek someone with a positive attitude, eager to embrace new ways of working, while constructively evaluating existing processes. We work according to Scania’s values and we are looking for someone that shares them.

In a changing market, you should be self-reliant and comfortable in situations without clear processes. As a team player, your positive energy fosters collaboration and strengthens group cohesion. Your ability to prioritize and your analytical, structured, and solution-oriented mindset are keys to success.

Requirements:

  • Academic degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
