About the role
We are looking for a committed and collaborative Legal Counsel to join Scania’s global legal team. Within Group Legal Affairs, a team of ten skilled lawyers and two assistants supporting the whole organization, you will be one of two counsels supporting Scania’s procurement function.
Scania’s procurement function, comprising around 700 purchasing managers worldwide, manages the acquisition of products and services for all global units, with central operations based in Södertälje. In this role, you will be a key contact to the procurement leadership while collaborating closely with colleagues in Group Legal & Compliance, across Scania, and within the wider TRATON Group. Based primarily at Scania’s headquarters in Södertälje, you will be part of a dynamic and truly international environment.
Key responsibilities
You will provide strategic and operational support across a diverse and complex business area.
Your responsibilities will include:
Coordinating legal support for Scania’s procurement function.
Working closely with procurement function to integrate legal considerations into decision-making and processes and align priorities with business needs.
Driving innovation in legal service delivery by exploring and applying new methods and tools, including AI.
Advising on overarching legal matters, including strategy, process development, and proactive risk management.
Providing hands-on legal support in all procurement-related legal areas, particularly contract- and commercial law.
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts, term sheets, and formal communications with counterparties.
Managing disputes and handling matters related to supplier insolvency and bankruptcies.
Coordinating and supervising external counsel.
Designing and delivering legal training sessions for procurement managers.
Developing, updating, and maintaining contract templates, handbooks, and other legal guidance.
Who we are looking for
You have:
A Swedish law degree (or equivalent) and 7+ years of relevant legal experience from a reputable law firm and/or in-house role.
Experience in supporting procurement or supply chain operations within a multinational company.
Extensive experience in commercial contract law and commercial negotiations.
Additional expertise in other areas relevant for the procurement function such as IP, IT, transport, construction, or insolvency law is an advantage.
Experience with digitalization and innovation of legal service delivery is meritorious.
