Release Manager for DIM System

You will drive the Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of the releases. As a release manager you’ll contribute to a well-planned and successful delivery – a solution that works as intended and is delivered on schedule. Sounds pretty simple, right? But what qualities are required to be a successful release manager? Let's explore!

 

You should have a technical understanding of software development and IT implementation. This includes understanding how systems work, code structures, and tools used to build and deploy software.

Ability to communicate clearly with various stakeholders, including developers, testers, product owners, and operations staff. This includes creating documentation, reporting progress, and managing expectations.

 

Experience with agile working methods is valuable. As a release manager you should understand how agile teams work, sprint planning, backlog management, and rapid delivery of features.

Working as part of a team is crucial. You will collaborate with multiple teams and individuals, so having a positive and collaborative mindset is essential.

 

Example of tasks performed:

 

· Plan the release windows and cycles, all brands and components

· Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

· Conduct Release Readiness reviews and Business Go/No-Go reviews

· Perform release reporting and documentation

· Communicate release details and schedules to the business as required

· Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities

· Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges

 

Qualifications:

 

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

· 4-6 years of work experience of release management

· Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle

· Ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion

· Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills

· Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
