Senior Commodity Purchaser - Exhaust Components

Changes to the automotive market are leading to a future shift to the traditional combustion engine business, while improved emissions performance has never been more in focus. With it comes a number of associated strategic possibilities as well as challenges  - and these have resulted in the possibility to welcome one Senior Commodity Purchaser, or Senior Sourcing Manager as we call it to join our team!

 

This position will be a leading figure in the 3-ring/x-ring cooperation i.e. that between commodity and project purchasers as well as quality engineers.Apply and join our high-performing and diverse purchasing team in a challenging and exciting business environment! 

 

Who we are
You now have the opportunity to become part of and lead one of the most exciting segments at Scania! The exhaust aftertreatment system x-ring consists of 12 people with mixed backgrounds. All have their own areas of responsibility but support each other towards a common strategy. This constellation boasts decades of experience working at Scania, employments at competitor brands as well as manufacturers of industrial tools and equipment, and even previous careers working for suppliers of the segment. We enjoy solving problems both within the team and with our cross-function and always strive to find the best solutions for Scania. 

 

In Commodity Procurement, Exhaust & Drivetrain Components (SGCE) you belong to a team of 8 people where all purchasers have individual responsibilities but are connected to the same mission and targets.

 

Responsibilities 
We are currently searching for a new team member to join the exhaust segments. You will be leading the x-ring work consisting of three different segments and 3-rings and responsible for setting the overall strategies. In these strategic segments, you will lead the collaboration between Scania and our co-brands in maintaining the high-performing product at the right cost level. You will lead the strategy with the right balance between Technology, Quality, Delivery, Cost & Sustainability (TQDCS).

 

You will be a key contributor in our collaboration with partners internally within TRATON group as well as with our highly competent suppliers. In this position you will have the opportunity to develop your career further and grow within Scania Procurement, our cross-functions and TRATON. This unique role offers a potential bridge position between a traditional purchasing role and a management position. Your responsibility in this role:
 

  • Coordinate activities and guide the X-ring in their daily work.
  • Coordinate the alignment within exhaust segment purchasing globally within Traton.
  • Lead the global supplier coordination of the exhaust production system.
  • Challenge and secure a maintainable silencer portfolio from a supply chain perspective.
  • Report directly to the Exhaust Management 3-ring and take part in the Management 3-ring meetings.

You have a holistic strategic awareness. Your creative mindset will help the team in shaping new long and short term solutions to fit the changing landscape. You are good at maintaining relationships and like to represent purchasing in cross functions as well as towards suppliers in a professional way. You see and can balance stakeholder needs and you are not afraid to raise your voice when needed. You are a person with a great commercial interest and a passion for doing business while staying close to the technology. You are also self-driven with high integrity and contribute to the development of the team. 

 

To be successful in this position, we believe you to have experience from other sourcing manager roles within Traton or other relevant backgrounds. You also have a strong proven performance of 3-ring work with high strategic level. It is a merit if you have experience working with tight time plans and complex industrialization projects. We expect you to have an academic degree in industrial engineering, business or similar.

 

As the role involves communication with global suppliers, you are fluent in English. Swedish and/or German is a merit.

My name is Johan Pettersson and I am 45 years old. I have been working at Scania purchasing since 2022, at the company since 2005 and been a leader for the past 16 years in different areas.

I see my role as a manager to create an open and transparent atmosphere that bring the best out of the team and the individual by protecting the team, setting directions, empowering co-workers, building trust and respecting individual needs and diversity. I always try to have a positive mindset and leads by example. Also I see my self as a flexible and adaptable manager who is able to adjust to changing circumstances and respond to unexpected challenges.
