Are you an experienced designer looking to make a real impact on future vehicle platforms?
We are now looking for a Senior Design Engineer who wants to take a leading role in developing chassis installation solutions within electrification and conventional vehicle programs at TRATON Group R&D.
In this role, you will lead the development of installation solutions for high- and low-voltage electrical components within the chassis domain. Your work covers the complete design process, from packaging and layout studies to detailed design of sheet metal brackets, casted parts, and solutions for electrical and media routing installations.
Together with global cross-functional teams across TRATON, you will drive robust, modular, and production-ready solutions that support future vehicle architectures and electrification initiatives. You will also contribute to the development of engineering methods, digital tools, modularity strategies, and future ways of working.
Job Responsibilities
You will design and develop advanced chassis installation solutions using CATIA and modern engineering methods. As a senior member of the team, you are expected to take ownership of technical solutions and contribute to the development of both products and colleagues.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the design and development of installation solutions for high- and low-voltage electrical components.
- Drive technical solutions from concept and packaging studies through industrialization and product release.
- Design sheet metal brackets, casted parts, and installation solutions for electrical and media routing systems.
- Take ownership of technical quality, documentation, timing, and stakeholder alignment.
- Collaborate with product planning, production, validation, purchasing, suppliers, and other design units.
- Participate in design reviews, verification activities, testing, and production support.
- Contribute to design guidelines, modularity strategies, engineering methods, and digitalization initiatives.
- Support and develop engineering capability within the team through technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
- Support global TRATON collaborations and knowledge sharing across brands.
Who You Are
You are an experienced and proactive engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and taking ownership of complex development tasks. You thrive in collaborative environments and build strong relationships across functions and organizations.
You combine technical expertise with strong communication skills and have the ability to balance detailed engineering work with a broader system perspective.
For this position, we believe you have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Several years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Strong CATIA design experience.
- Experience with sheet metal design, casted components, and installation design.
- Experience working with electrical component installations and media routing solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently drive technical investigations and development activities.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Nice to have:
- Experience from Scania, TRATON, MAN, or other TRATON brands.
- Knowledge of TRATON modular systems and development processes.
- Experience within heavy vehicles, electrification, charging systems, or chassis integration.
- Experience working across global and cross-functional organizations.
