Test Engineer Cooling Systems - Bus
Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions.
Our values – customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste – are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.
Role Summary
The cooling systems in conventional ICE and electrified buses are designed to keep the powertrain, power electronics and batteries at optimal working temperatures. At the same time, they must meet requirements on energy consumption, drivability and acoustics, while balancing product cost and weight. It is a complex system where the performance ultimately determines where and how our vehicles can operate.
As a Test Engineer for cooling performance, you are responsible – together with cooling system design engineers – for planning, preparing and carrying out performance tests on our test buses– including defining test methods, setting up instrumentation, building the right test configurations and continuously adapting the setup during testing. You analyze the results and translate them into clear recommendations for how to optimize system performance and influence design decisions.
It is a role where you must combine technical expertise with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration. You will not solve the challenges alone – success depends on working closely with colleagues in software, hardware, workshops and other system and property owners
Job Responsibilities
- Translate cooling system design needs into structured and feasible test plans, including method selection and scope definition
- Prepare and set up test activities, including instrumentation, test configurations and ensuring readiness of all required systems
- Execute tests in climate chambers and on test tracks, securing stable conditions and reliable data by controlling influencing factors
- Analyze test data to build system understanding and identify performance gaps or improvement opportunities
- Present results and provide clear recommendations to support system optimization and design decisions
Who You Are
We believe you are a driven and curious engineer who takes ownership of your tasks and enjoys bringing people together to move forward.
