VCB/VCA harness designer

Who we are

As a global unit for electrical components and installation within Traton we are responsible for the design and installation of VCB and VCA cable & busbar layout design within propulsion battery packs. You will be part of a globally acting agile working team of designers and developers focused on connecting the source of electric power on electric vehicles together. You will be an important link between the battery modules and the BJB considering the challenging installation space. We are hoping you would like to join us on our journey setting new benchmarks!

About the role

As a Design Engineer, you will have end-to-end responsibility for both developing new components and improving existing ones used in customer operations. You will work in a highly cross-functional environment, collaborating with teams across TRATON and its suppliers.

Your responsibilities

  • You will design the layout of our high and low-voltage cable harnesses on propulsion batteries, which includes design electric circuit diagrams, bundle drawings, 3D models, mounting, and assembly drawings.
  • You will take layout routing to the next level by designing plastic supporting structures
  • You and your team, will work in one of our agile flows, focusing on several projects in parallel within one product area, and you will follow the maturity of your systems throughout their entire life cycle.
  • You will be involved in product development projects at all stages, from concept development and industrialization to maintenance of released products.
  • You will continuously improve our methods and processes, setting new standards to enhance design layouts, focusing on quality and cost


Your profile

We are looking for you to:

  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, product development, or similar
  • Have experience or knowledge about electrical design, electrical schematics, or electrical components in CAD environment of Catia V5
  • Have experience in cable harness or plastic design
  • Have an interest in product development and knowledge about CAD and/or electrical systems
  • A sense of ownership of your work and autonomy when planning your tasks and tackling challenges
  • As part of an international team, good knowledge of English in both speech and writing is essential for this position 
  • A plus if you have previously worked in automotive, or with the IT systems Saber and/or Capital
